Who better to serve as Master of Ceremonies for the 34th Annual Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl than the legendary Bill Cosby? On June 16 & 17, the 74 year-old comedian, and active member of The Jazz Foundation of America, will play host to an incredible group of musicians that will put their own unique spin on jazz music. Hugh Hefner, the event’s producer, said “I’ve had a lot of things to be proud of in my life, but nothing more, quite frankly, than the Jazz Festival”.
Saturday night sees an amazing cross-section of artists grace the legendary Hollywood Bowl stage: the revved-up Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, the hip hop vibes of Ozomatli, and Prince’s funky longtime collaborator, Sheila E, among others. There’s bound to be a few jaw-dropping moments.
Sunday night’s lineup offers just as much bang. It’s tough to highlight only a few of the day’s performers. Keb’ Mo’ is sure to bring his best blues to the Hollywood Bowl, Chile’s Chico Trujillo will add their horn-driven Latin vibe to the evening, and New Orleans Preservation Hall Jazz Band will serve up traditional and Dixieland jazz for your listening pleasure.
