April 13th – 15th, 2012
This April 13th it’ll be “Gentlemen, start your engines!” for the 38th straight year at the Toyota Grand Prix in Long Beach CA. Called America’s #1 Street Race, the high-powered IZOD IndyCar Series will showcase superstars Helio Castroneves, Danica Patrick and Dario Franchitti chasing down defending champ Ryan Hunter-Reay. In addition, film, TV and sports stars will vie in the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race. And, four more races—Tequila Patrón American LeMans Series Race, Drifting, Firestone Indy Lights and SCCA Pro Racing World Challenge Championships—guarantee a full weekend of nail-biting action.
The free Auto Club Lifestyle Expo and Green Power Prix-View will offer family fun along with entertainment and more than 100 exhibitions of the latest lifestyle products. Added features include an aerial Zip Line, electric-powered race cars for kids and a rock climbing wall, as well as BMX and skateboarding demos. The Kid’s Zone has action sports, computer games and simulators.
You can enjoy two concerts in the Tecate Light “Cool Zone”—Fiesta Friday and Saturday Rock-N-Roar. Legendary rock band Joan Jett and the Blackhearts will star in the Saturday night Tecate Concert. Soak up the Long Beach seaside atmosphere in Club Patrón or one of the Cantinas located around the circuit. See some of the world’s most impressive machinery at Sunday’s Mothers Polishes Exotic Car Corral.
Apart from the race, there’s plenty to discover and do in one of the most walkable cities in America. Long Beach boasts more than 100 quality restaurants within an eight-block radius of its downtown, and dynamic shopping and entertainment options along the shoreline. Stroll the 5 ½ mile beach path for cool views of the Long Beach Harbor. For shoppers, take the Passport shuttle and stroll down Retro Row or Belmont Shore, two popular districts offering a myriad of boutique shops and eclectic restaurants. 888-82-SPEED | www.gplb.com
