February 9th-16th, 2012
New York City is the place to be in February for fashion fans and celebrity-seekers alike. Internationally recognized as the premier showcase for cutting-edge fashion in North America, and at the forefront of fashion events globally, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week kicks off a global calendar of Fashion Weeks. Each September and February industry leaders of the fashion world make their way to Lincoln Center to preview designs for the upcoming season. With this year’s lineup as robust as ever—Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs, Badgley Mischka, to name a few—expectations are as high as ever.
What will designers, iconic and wunderkind alike, blaze the runways with this season? Will the Calvin Klein Collection offer any surprises? Will Venexiana continue to be the go-to designer for rock-n-roll haute couture? Are we wrong to expect a banner year, with lots of glitz and swirl? Or has global economic gloom and doom irrevocably darkened the mood? Well, this is New York. And Mercedes Benz is the sponsor. A glittering cast of elite and up-and-coming designers promises not to disappoint. True fashionistas would never let the economic weather keep them from catching glimpses of their favourite editors, designers, celebrities, stylists and leggy models as they rush through the streets of Manhattan to by-invitation-only shows.
Dozens of other fashion shows and related events will also take place around the city during New York Fashion Week, including Couture Fashion Week NY at the Waldorf-Astoria (Friday, February 17, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. – Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 10:00 p.m.), and iFashion Week by iFashion Network.
The Mercedes-Benz Fall 2012 Collections will be shown February 9 to 16, 2012 at Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park.
